To perform the duties of this job, the applicant must have good interpersonal skills; be patient and tactful; to be cooperative and have a good attitude at all times with managers/supervisors, co-workers, customers and visitors.
No scrap metal experience needed.
Job Overview Operate the scales. All scale tickets must be verified and contain correct information in regards to customer, material, weights.
- Accurately inspect all materials ensuring correct weights, materials description and grade for all inbound and outbound loads.
- Determine the grade of material and enter into the inventory system.
- Assist in the sorting and processing of materials.
- Assist in loading and unloading of vehicles.
- Ensure accurate documentation of scale transactions.
- Communicate material discrepancies with Operations Managers.
- Communicate and assist yard staffs as necessary.
- Follow detailed specifications on outbound loads.
- Adhere to all safety, and environmental standards.
- Keep a clean and organized work area.
Requirements: - Excellent customer service skills
- Work well under pressure and ability to prioritize
- Meet attendance schedule with dependability and consistency
- Willingness to learn
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: - Demonstrate professional conduct at all times.
- Treat all persons with courtesy and respect.
- Must be able to work regardless of weather conditions.
- The ability to follow directions and safety regulations.
