Responsibilities include investigating and responding to EEO complaints related to discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, reviewing case merits through document review and employee interviews, and submitting responses to agencies such as CCHR, SDHR, or EEOC. The attorney will manage a caseload of state and federal court complaints, oversee document production for discovery, and participate in mediations and settlements. Additionally, work on accessibility projects, including the Pedestrian Ramp Program, advising on best practices to remove barriers, is expected. Other duties involve drafting and reviewing legislation, rules, agreements, conducting research, policy reviews, and supporting legal assignments arising from agency operations. Minimum Qualifications Admission to the New York State Bar One year of satisfactory U.S. legal experience after bar admission, or Six months of satisfactory service as an Agency Attorney Intern (30086). Incumbents must remain members of the New York State Bar in good standing throughout employment. Additional Qualification Details To qualify for Assignment Level (AL) II, candidates need one year of experience at AL I or two years of comparable legal experience post-admission. For AL III, candidates require two years at AL I/II or three years of relevant legal experience post-admission. Preferred Skills Familiarity with ADA, Rehabilitation Act, Title VII, and City regulatory frameworks is preferred.
