Our client, a global private equity real estate fund manager with over $10B AUM, located in Manhattan, is looking to hire an Assistant Controller and Controller. The client is looking for accountants with 6 to 10 years of experience working with private equity or real estate private equity funds. Candidates must have a strong understanding of accounting concepts associated with private equity funds, ideally funds focused on real estate. This position will require people to be in the office 5 days but if work is done correctly more flexibility is possible. This is a very important hire for the firm and the position will require extensive interaction with senior management of the firm. Compensation can get to $225k for the position, based on relevant on experience.

Responsibilities:

• Review quarterly workpaper packages, waterfalls, financial statements and capital account statements prepared by the Fund Administrator for multiple Fund entities
• Review Fund cash position and manage liquidity
• Interact with auditors and tax preparers as needed
• Review tax workpaper packages, K1s and other tax schedules received from the tax preparers
• Work with the Management Company accounting group
• Liaise with Investor Relations and Fund Raising teams to address investor inquiries
• Work with the Portfolio Management team on IRRs and other reporting
• Review and allocate expense invoices and assist with accounts payable processing
• Assist with ad hoc projects

Requirements:

• Private Equity/Hedge Fund Accounting experience; Real Estate and/or Operating Company experience a plus
• Big Four Public accounting experience preferred
• CPA preferred
• Bachelor’s degree in accounting preferred
• Strong work ethic, initiative and attention to detail
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Proficiency in Excel and Word
